The word “fiat” comes from Latin and means “Let It Be Done”. A mugwump fiat is a formal decree issued with authority by the highest level in Aretéan leadership.
In this constantly changing world, it is necessary that the leaders of Aretéanism must reflect on our doctrine and organizational structure. Sometimes, changes to Aretéanism are needed. To this end, we grant the Supreme Mugwump and the Quorum of Mugwumps with the authority and agency to enact decisions unilaterally. When changes need to be made, those changes are issued by “mugwump fiat”, in which a mugwump of Aretéanism bangs a gavel and says the words “So let it be done”. Upon the introduction of new changes, we invite each individual to engage in a period of personal contemplation, for which they should determine whether these alterations resonate with their own convictions. It is with profound respect for consent that we ask our community to move forward with changes that are acceptable to them.
