Rather than resisting change, Heroes of Areté embrace it. Being adaptable compliments being prepared, as it grants the flexibility to succeed even when circumstances prove different than anticipated. Being adaptable also means letting go of our ego-centric nature so that we can change ourselves, not just our plans. Becoming better people requires being able to change ourselves to fit with more excellent plans and qualities. Adaptability also implies the ability to make good compromises: compromising doesn’t mean accepting the unacceptable; it does mean being patient while we adapt our priorities to our circumstances. By remaining cognizant of reality around us, creatively imagining new solutions, and committing ourselves to areté rather than our pride; we will be able to successfully adapt to any challenge in life.
