To be fully engaged with all that we do requires more than just passion.  Commitment is not only being interested in good values, but accepting the duty to act upon those values.  Commitment can involve keeping our word even when it is inconvenient, but being a committed person doesn’t prevent us from being able to change our mind.  Instead, it encourages us to actively continue with all endeavors aligned with our sincere intentions.  We do our best to see things through to whatever conclusions they may have (physically or logically); but being a committed person has less to do with reaching finish lines, and more to do with persevering as long as necessary.  Being committed helps ensure we actually achieve success, and not just hope for it.
